Nelson, I'll be sure to disconnect the battery before I pull the CCC. I haven't disconnected it yet because I understand that leaving the battery disconnected for a long period of time would make it loose time to next service interval for oil changes, etc.

I got a battery charger/maintainter, I'll be sure to hook it up during the Navigation DVD loading.

My CCC already has the OEM ipod adapter in the glovebox (and no CD changer). The USB cable in the kit from Patryk, should I route that to the center console, or to the glove box as well?

Thanks

Peter

Peter,

The easiest way to route the USB cable is thru the glove compartment.

Also wanted you to know that the uploading of the NA maps takes about 3 hours that's why is critical to have the car charger.

Good luck on the install and if you have any questions don't hesitate to send me a PM.

Nelson, to be clear, will the charger be connected in-circuit with the battery in series or with the battery disconnected? I would think the battery is still out of the circuit whiles the charger is connected, correct? We are doing this to supply DC voltage as auxiliary power during programming and NAV updates etc?

Nigel, the charger will be connected when the installation of the CIC is done. Upload the map after have verified that everything is working.

Ah, I see Nelson. So at this point the CIC installation is complete and the battery is already re-connected to the car circuit. Given the duration of programming and NAV updates we need suplimentary power from the charger or the battery would die.

Makes sense.

Wow, so about 1 hour per DVD then? hopefully it will give you a progress indicator of some sort?

Good luck on the install and if you have any questions don't hesitate to send me a PM.
Will do. Appreciate all your assistance so far!

Peter
