Based on your earlier statement regarding the spacing on the AC console. Is this because the LCI trim that comes with the CIC unit does not exactly fit our pre-LCI AC console, or visa versa? If it is as I think, it would mean we have to actually replace the AC console/unit to the LCI version for a perfect fit, or can we use our pre-LCI trim for this area?

I'm actually choosing the path of least resistance and purchasing the CIC and CID from Patryk along with all cables etc, which means he will do all the coding prior to shipping the unit to me. I've already sent him a down-payment and he is in the process of verifying that we can get FSC codes for my car. Wish me luck.

Would you mind also listing all the coding extras you chose for your system. I'm definitely interested in DVD-In-Motion and also have a few other goodies in mind. I want to make sure I have a full list of coding requests for Patryk before he ships my kit. I'm also going to purchase the DCAN interface regardless so we can do remote coding if needed and then coding updates in the future once Voice control codes are available etc.

I also have to remember to choose the North American / Canadian NAV maps. If there is anything else you can think of that I need to remind Patryk of, by all means please let me know.

BDW, your install looks great!!
Georgieb,

Yes, the CIC trim needed doesnt fit correctly in pre-lci models. i kinda knew that and wasnt suprised. I dont know why BMW felt the need to redesign it. You will have to replace the ac unit for a perfect flush fit. To be honest i can live it. unless i find it cheap im in no rush to replace it.

Glad you decided to go for the retrofit.Im pretty confident Patryk will be able to generate the FSC codes for your car. You wont need any luck, believe you are in good hands with Patryk. Looking forward to your install and welcome to the club

I did the dvd-in-motion and working on the automatic windows/sunroof opening/closing with a keyfob. i have to replace the driver side window regulator. he tried to erase he error code but couldnt so im taking it to the dealer sometime in the week.

Im looking forward to seeing more CIC retrofits. keep the questions coming, that the least i could do contribute to this AWESOME forum.

Technic's correct.

Just to clarify, HD Radio is a separate module for those equipped with CCC (08 only). 2009+ iDrive models (CiC) have HD integrated within the Car Infotainment Computer (radio).

As a bonus, all iDrive-equipped M3s for 2010+ also have Sirius integrated within the CiC if specified when ordering - requiring CiC replacement if buyer's remorse kicks in after the vehicle is delivered.

Im pretty sure i don't HD radio and to be honest i never wanted it. If you wanted im pretty sure Patryk is able to code it, but $950 for the module is a lot of money.

Im not planning to install the new trim and controller, not worth it IMO. For those that want to, you will have to remove the armrest cut and remove the idrive controller module. After you remove the ashtray(there's 4 bolts holding) you will also have to cut around it so that new trim will fit correctly. To relocate the ashtray it will also require some custom work. BTW, this is for PRE-LCI owners.

Im still downloading the US maps will let you know if it work. Im pretty sure if i want the email to work i will have to replace my TCU with a GSM TCU, plus pay the $200 a year BMW Assist.

LCI owners: If you want the new controller you will just have to do the cutting but not worry about the ashtray. I think i forgot to mention that lci owners(2008-early 2009 owners) will indeed need a new center trim if you want to install the controller. As far as i know the new idriver controller was being used with the CCC right before the CIC was introduced, for those owners that want to do the retrofit, the only part that you need is the CIC trim and thats because the CCC trim has 2 cd slots.

Nelson, Kudos!

The install looks good and i am glad it went well for you. I'd be interested in the iDrive controller retrofit also, so will be browsing some of the other forums to see more details on this to decide if the extra work is something i want to do.

I am still on the fence with the full package from Patryk or source myself. there is a cost difference but the 'complete package' already tested and working is tempting... Also, Is there only one CIC type? i mean, if i source a CIC unit is it possible to get a non navi compatible unit?

Not long now and i will get this ball rolling in my car.

Again, well done and enjoy the new system!

how do we contact this patryk guy and how much is programming only?

Wonder if this will fit the E63.. the E60 and E63 are virtually the same car for everything else
