After 32k Km the iDrive asked me to top up 1L engine. This is the third time I have to top-up engine oil. First at 8k Km, then 16k Km. I have the engine oil changed at 22k Km. Do you experience such frequent top-up? Is this normal?
What oil did PML use? Castrol or BMW long-life? xx-30/40/50 viscosity?

but had to do the same when i was driving the e46 320i 2.2l engine but not that frequent.
surprisingly my current ride so far never prompt me for low oil level (other than false alarm from i-drive). I am in the second oil change cycle with 6000km to go before the next one. I still have a bottle of those from PML in the boot till now.

Porsche launching their Cayman at Zouk on Oct 27th. I know Toto got the invite, I got mine in the mail. Anyone else?
Hey LMK, seems like only two for the TV module. I think there's no chance of getting a discount then.

I couldn't take a picture of the bulb that I brought because my camera wouldn't allow me to (too small) is the same type of bulb but instead of the wire (forgot what those are call) inside, they replace it with 6 LED lights on a circuit board.? Don't know if you know what I am talking about.
And I don't know what is parallel and stuff, too hard for me.

it is a whole series of LED connected in series, as 1 LED can take 2volts, 6 of them can take 12 volts in series.

[/quote]Don't think it is so serious. M54TUs do not have this problem. Only isolated cases of M52s. Most of the reasons for this is that the car wasn't properly run in for the first 2000km. You can bring it back to PML to check. But the process is quite a tedious one.
They will drain out your old oil, put in 6.5L. Ask you to drive for 2000km or 5000km (can't really remember) then go back for them to drain out the oil, and they will measure the oil left according to the distance travelled. If it falls in the treshold figure, its assumed normal. If it falls below, then siao liao.

On the engine oil thingy, I am not that concerned if I only need to top-up 1L every 8k. If nothing serious I'd prefer not to send in my car to PML. Anyone know for sure that this is a serious issue?
Anyway, the oil top-up light is off, and I checked the dipstick when the engine was warm (about 4 hours after switching off the engine), the oil level is still above minimum. Could it be like Zag's case, a false alarm? Will check again in the morning when the engine is cool.
BTW, should we check the level when cool or in operating temperature?
