PML having a Chinese New Year promotion for E60 520i. It is currently selling at about $180,000. PML trying to clear stock for the 520i as the new E60 with valvetronics engine will come in around June this year when there will be only 523i, 525i and 530i for sale and no more 520i. The 523i is likely to be at least $8 to $10k more than the current 520i.? There is also talk of a 518i for the Singapore market but this is not confirmed. Morale of the story is - wait patiently to buy car in Singapore as the longer you wait, the better car you get with more options and at cheaper price.

The 523 is actually a 2.5L car! If it's 8-10K more than current 520, that would be 188-190K? That's the selling price of the 520i a few months back (before all the discount, kick back). :'(

Stranger, it's mainly due to COE at $14K.

I understand that PML will now apply open cat COEs for now. So, KKK, your assumption is not correct as of today. Trust me; I just had a meeting with PML people today regarding something else and this was mentioned in passing. The open cat is somewhere around SGD 19K?

Cheech, thank you for taking your time to understand our country's policies. Let us know the next time you're here. We can always exchange some views.

The 523I is not too good a buy. Do not be misled by the assumption that you're paying less for a 525 engine. On the contrary, you're actually paying much more. Should anyone decide on the 523I, he'll be actually driving a car that is 2.5L, paying the road tax on a 2.5L, with the HP rating of a 2.2L. Now, is this worth it? The 520 market will be gone forever - once they discotinue the 2.2L and decide against the 518 (if that has ever been in their minds). Potential buyers of the 520 will now have to consider between a 3 or the 525 depending on their budget. Another alternative is to look into other makes which is actually a more sensible thing to do. Since BMW doesn't want to cater to this lot, they may as well pay someone else who still treasures their business.

Agree that the 523 is actually not a good buy due to tax. It's a 170bhp car after all. 520 is mainly popular here and maybe in the UK. Everywhere else is at least 525.

Be careful with open cat COE also. It's now 19K and LTA will only refund you based the cat B which is 14K. So one loses 5K upfront.

Edlee, I appreciate your feedback. I know I am am taking a risk to install the hifi. PML does not offer an upgrade to Logic 7, and I have no other alternatives. Just hope PML is understanding and reasonable when dealing with warranty claims if any.

Hi everyone,

After an absence of a couple of months, I've decided to write in to inform fellow forumers of a product that can squeeze/add at least a couple of hp to their standard rides.

My current ride is the E60 520. Honestly speaking it is underpowered and feels quite sluggish especially in the low to medium rev ranges. Today however, I finally decided to do something about it.

I had 10 Bioion fuel crackers (6 on the fuel line and 4 elsewhere) installed in my vehicle and added mico-plating engine oil treatment. I then took the vehicle out for a test run. There was definitely an improvement in the response of the rev meter. However, I am more concerned about the improvement in the low to medium rev ranges as this is where the 520 feels particularly sluggish. Try acclerating from a stand-still position up an averagely steep hill and you'll know what I mean. You'll need to step hard on the accelerator before the rpm needle laboriously crawls past the 2000-3000 rpm mark.

With the fuel crackers installed and mico-plating treatment, the rev meter felt more responsive throughout the entire rev range. It registered a slight improvement in pick-up/accleration at the low rev ranges. However, the increase in power felt greater at the medium to high rev ranges. This product has been dyno tested and is similar to Calski fuel ionizers except that it is about 50% cheaper. And, even at this price I would not consider it a cheap product.

Although products of this nature claim that there are fuel cost savings I choose to remain skeptical about it since there are no conclusive car laboratory tests. This is a product for those E60 owners who do not wish to undergo invasive modifications and just want to have a little extra get-up-and-go. I'm not saying that it's going to work miracles on your vehicle but it'll give you a slight to moderate improvement in engine response and fluidity for everyday driving purposes and pleasure.

For those keen to try and want a more detailed explanation, you can contact Andrew at 9021-6117. He offers a no obligations trial of his product if anyone is keen to check it out. You guys out there take care as always.

Regards,
Stormrider
