Zag and Tategoi,

http://www.caraudiomag.com/testreports/051...h990_head_unit/

this is what i meant and tell installers (especially those freaks out there) there is a big difference in sound reproduction between road and static tuning. As most installer tune the cabin with the car static, with this the rumble and hum does not affect the tuning at all. Once you set on the road, the rumbles and hums from tire noise will surface. This resonates and cancels low frequencies. Therefore it will not be accurate in drive mode.
Alpine F1 came out with this automatic tuning with both static and road!!!! my dream comes true finally.

Also, to alot of installers who lacks the knowledge of electronics engineering, they simply ignore the distortion at low freqs. As most of the specs are at 14.4volts and not 12 volts, the distortion is at its best at 12V! When the car engine is running, the voltage goes back up to 14.4V. Therefore tuning needs alot of skills and trial and error. Alpine F1 takes care of that in Auto mode.

Hmm...if i can, slam in the F1 head unit, control unit with my dream amp and speakers (not Alpine) that will be cool!
Thats why you need to have a voltage stabilizer to feed your audio system with constant power. My dream of having an Alpine F1 was dashed when C&C refused to sell me an R32 with free reverse sensor.

I had a Alpine 7998 head unit in my previous ride. Although it is not in the like of F1, but the quality of the source is much better than our original head unit. Although Swift said the 701 helps, I don't agree with him.

oooooooooh!....i want it! i want it! can i choose my own amp please!!!!!!
i would throw away the head unit in my ride and reserve the space for F1!
i will be happy to go Luxman amp, CV subs, and MB quart components to match with ADS components.

shall we group buy F1? who game?
How to throw away our stock head unit? But I saw someone installed a separate head unit in the e60, with additional speakers and subwoofers at new location without taking out stock speakers. You can't control the new ICE on the steering wheel, but you can still hear car and PDC warning from existing speakers.

if i really want it, i will cut the dash unit. changing the speakers is a must. The only con is that it does not blend in with the interior.
i am looking for the configration of our E60 wiring that controls the electronics. So that when we use after market head unit like this, we can still use our steering controls.

hmm..i got the 7998 too! love it.
in fact, has been a supporter of Alpine head unit since the 80's.
Before that, i am a nakamichi fan when cassette tape is the norm, i still have the Dragon sitting somewhere in my store room.
F1 is the way to go, maybe i will just hide it under the console.

I'm interested but there is no mention about this device on their website. Do keep us posted.
