Thanks bro LMK. I guess AUX still nec?
Aux is not needed if you have the new ipod interface. some programming needed from PML though.

PML claims that it is normal to top up a little in between oil service (that's why they have this 1L in your boot after oil service) if you have 520i. I asm not sure if that is the norm for 523i, 525i or others but mine does NOT seem to need to top up.
LMK, what's this with the Reisitor of the AUX interface? I dont think Ah Boa removed it for me! Should I get it removed?

Don't know if the new ipod interface will have those resistors found on the aux??
But electronically speaking, it should not have the resistor as i assume that the interface connects directly into the low level signal then to the amplifier.
The resistor is to limit the voltage going into the amplifier at high level input preventing damages to the amp.
the capacitor acts as a filter to cut hissing noise and rumble, but contrary, it also cuts high and low frequencies. therefore what we hear is "no bass, lack of highs"

If you experienced low volume from your aux, or you need to pump up your volume to achieve reasonable loudness, then, get it remove. It sounds much better....yes, much better!

I doubt Ah Boa removed it for you. I have taught him how to remove it and my ride is the first he learned how to have the capacitor and resistor removed.

My Ride: Nothing to boast about!

If I am not wrong, the resistor ? and caps ? form a high pass filter cutting off at around 50Hz. That could explain the lack of bass. It also does the DC block in technical speak. The reason is the player may have a different biasing point compared to the ipod output stage. You don't want to have 2 different DC levels fighting each other.
My guess without them, the amp input is now sitting a higher DC which could explain the louder volume heard.
Sorry for the technical mumbo jumbo.![Tongue](https://5series.net/forums/images/smilies/imported/tongue.gif)
Personally I won't remove them. But that's just me.
