I have a Question please and would most grateful for any help please ?
I want to fit wheel only, I have a 3/2009 wheel same as the picture for Kleynie which I plan to fit to 2006 E60
From what I have read :-
1) Install 1 wire on pin 12 of SZL connector (X1880) and run to ground
2) Install 1 wire on pin 13 of SZL connector (X1880) and run to connector X6031 in ebox to pin 11

I am un sure if coding is required for paddle wheel only ?

If you have a pre-LCI E60, then the instructions for retrofitting a paddle wheel will be different that on this thread. This thread only applies to LCI E60's with the electronic (GWS) shifter. As far as I know, LCI is MY2008 and later.

On a happy note, I think it's actually easier to get paddle-shifting working on the pre-LCI models (ie. no coding required).

Thanks for such a fast reply, I am having a bit of trouble looking for a definitive Pre LCI retro fit thread, any leads ?
Thanks again

ok so I put everything I had in bmw code and I do the coding without the paddles on the steering wheel because mine does not have the paddles on the steering wheel right

Once everything comes out the message encoded in the sports context?

in most is not that the steering wheel becomes harder once codified all

I think you are correct. But my steering wheel used to get harder when I pressed the sport button but after I coded some other options the hard steering wheel went away which I prefer. I don't actually know where it got changed because I did it via full coding with a new VO.

As given by kbimmer these parameters in KGM controls heavy steering:

GESCHWIN_WERTE_SPORT_KGM wert_01
STROMWERTE_SPORT_KGM wert_01

Also just to let you guys know SAT retrofit isn't fully operational until SAT version software is flashed onto the gearbox ecu (GKE).
