CIC Retrofit Installation LOG

Hi all,
I'm really much interested in the functionality of the new combox as well because I think its a huge step forward.
I also assume that we need VC to gain the most out of it.
But I suggest that we open a new threat for the combox topic for two reasons:
1. Raise more attention of other forum member for this
2. Keep the CIC retrofit posting clean
What do you think?
Maybe a moderator can separate the postings around combox and put them in another threat.

So far it looks like the Combox requires the latest CIC -2011 in Europe and 2011.5 in the USA- to enable the Office and the Nuance Voice Control for text-to-speech. The album art display may be possible in older CIC, though... the coding for Album Art is present in my 2009 CIC.
And remember... if you have Assist and want to keep your current service contract then you much get an US Combox as it replaces the TCU. And that's if the Combox can be coded to keep the current Assist service. Without Assist there's no myInfo or BMW Search...

Im a little confused on having the latest CIC. The last year of the E60 CIC was produced in 2010 so how come the guy from Russia was able to retrofit it. Looking at their pictures it looks like they managed to have the internet working on an older CIC.
Good point. The Russian posts definitely don't reflect a 2011 CIC unless this BMW hardware is date-coded a year prior. Patryk can clear some of this up as he does testing at his end. We may have jumped the gun a bit on this mod as I think Patryk is still-test benching which will help him to determine a specific upgrade path.

I started a new thread for the ComBox. Everyone, feel free to jump in. Is anyone familiar with a moderator that can move our existing relevant posts over?

If Patrys can do all that remotely I'm in, but something is telling me that here in the US we will need the new CIC. The Combox should not be an issue once we get the connector pins assignments.

Yes definately get everything from Patryk, don't even consider buying the parts yourself and expecting it to all work.
