OK - so I need to order the AUX Input Kit and the Install Kit?

Scratch that! If others are saying the 502 part number is working, then so be it. If your individual dealer is telling you it ISNT for US spec cars, ask them why they have availability in the states?

Only stocking in one of the warehouses, but they have them.

$60 sound like a fair price for the 502 kit guys????

OK, I don't want to take this discussion back to the beginning, but I am finding it
hard to get motivated by this option..don't get me wrong I like gadgets and music and all, it's just I must be missing something...

I need some confirmation on this:

1. it will play ipod, or anything with a mini headphone jack - which I can see the benefit if you like 5000 songs with you...

2. The audio is an aux input with a normal red, black, ground plugs - a connection
that has been around for a few decades and offers no superior sound quality. Or are we talking about a digital connection here?

3. I can see the benefit of playing an audio dvd on a portable player and then via
the aux input but surely you can find the same music on a cd and listen to it natively on the car's system at superior quality.

4. The cost for this mod is reasonable, but if in a few months we get an S/W upgrade for mp3 capability/compatibility, which in it's best form of variable bit rate can offer ( natively ) fantastic sound quality, you have conservatively calculating about 1000 songs storage ( all 7 cd's in mp3 format ) - and costs nothing....

Again, nothing against this mod, but can someone fill me in on the exact objective of this and the technical merits...

TIA

If you connect an MP3 player like iPod using line out, you get as good quality as the MP3-CDs that you will be able (hopefully) to play in the future.

I thought that the aux. input played through the sound system of the Bimmer. If not, I agree with Andy.
