actually quite upset that insurance doesnt cover vkool. have to pay and take time off to get that done again.
Bugaboo,

Do you know how much you need to pay for vkool for your windscreen? If you don't mind RikeCool, I think I can get very special price for you.

On the topic of Windscreen... I bought a Garmin low profile external antenna...it has a magnetic base which sticks nicely to the exterior of the car e.g. at the top of the right side A pillar... But is there a good way to get the wire from the interior of the car to the exterior without causing a leak or drilling a hole??

The antenna is rounded on one side and flat on the other... the flat side has the usual screws and the usual sticker behind most electrical appliances...i.e. ugly to show if I simply stuck the flat side to the inside of the windscreen...

The antenna costs S$42 and I got 8 satelite locks with an accuracy of 2metres... amazing...
thats cool. added to bugabooinc under navigation

anyone replace windscreen at pml before? i got a chip from driving on the ecp today. my insurance should cover it. my agent says no payment needed on my end.. just send in to pml. how does this work? do i have to pay 1st and claim?
Its a breeze. Just look for Stanley who will ask you to sign on the dotted line. Remember to bring your insurance papers. I do not have any leakage problem 7 mths after installation

Bugaboo,

Yes, I have done mine. It cost nothing for me because the boss is a friend.
He said first check with your installer first (Lumma). Some may give free replacement for windscreen replacement. Otherwise, pls let me know and for sure you will get special price.

Meng,

try the 3M one. For the Windscreen and front side mirrors which require 70% light emission, it can block 100% of UV and 95% of IR (the heat). For the rear, you can get 25% light emission and 100% UV and 98% IR. I tore down my 3mths old VCool to get the 3M (now they have a special of $700).... Look for Kelvin. They have workshop in Ubi and Turf City...

Oh one more thing... 3M does not interfer with GPS nor ERP nor Handphone signals... i.e. there is no need to cut a square area for the IU....

Meng, I would also recommend 3M also. All my previous cars were on Vkool and so is my wife's current ride. Vkool works well but what annoys me is that they need to cut a hole for the IU. Also, Vkool affects handphone reception. Only downside about 3M is that the tint is quite dark compared to Vkool. I prefer the greenish tint on the Vkool to the dark shade of 3M. Howver, 3M does have a totally clear film which I installed but tore down in less than 2 weeks. Let in too much light under the blazing sun. In terms of heat reflection properties, both are equally up there.

Cheers.
CK
