for those guys that prefer not to use Nuvi as our E60 has its own screen, but thinks that the price for OEM sat nav is too pricey....here's the solution:
http://www.garmin.com/products/gvn52/
and this can be incorporated into our E60.

To help us gauge your price competitiveness... give us a list of your specs... does it come with HUD, AFS, GPS, Comfort Seats etc?
Have you considered checking the price difference with a PI?

Thanks very much for the all the advice! Appreciate you all taking the time.
I'm wondering whether 242k is a "reasonable" price for the vehicle. So far have not ventured into the PI channel - not sure that PML would be willing to service PI vehicles.
As for the car itself, it seems to come pretty highly spec'ed - with the following as std. eqpt.
1. Comfort access system (CAS)
2. Adaptive headlights with Xenons and washer system
3. Comfort seats front
4. Hi Fi loudspeaker system
5. Cruise
6. Nav system (with SGP and MY maps) professional with 8" screen.
7. Active steering
8. BMW professional radio
9. 18" 123 style rims
However, does not come with HUD - not sure what AFS is though.
Actually, I've got a bet on with the missus, that if I can lose 30lbs, I can get the car. So this is still a tentative purchase but so far so good!! Fingers, eyes and toes crossed...
Thanks again,
bengster.

AFS = Active Front Steering... it was launched on the E60s back in 2003 and alot of us swear by it... however, the newer 523 doesnt come with it as there are added costs... 530 should have it as standard but then again... you never know what organs PML left out in order to make the overall price seem cheaper... worth asking to be sure. AFS is not power steering. It is a electro-mechanical variable ratio steering column which makes it stiff when at high speed and extremely agile at low or parking speed. We only need 3/4 turn to make a full U-turn.
HUD = Head Up Display... used to be standard for 530 (no?) and came with a certain batch of Dec05 523s... you should get it especially with you have the GPS built-in. It makes you feel like a fighter pilots. BTW, did you order Wing Flaps?
Not asking you to go PI... but if PIs can import and sell 630, M5 and the lot... and still get BMWAsia to honor the international warranty (warranty claim items are all serviced at PML)... why not give them a chance to quote you? At the very least you can go to PML and say... this chap offer me the same car with the same warranty (minus the cappucino and babe

Finally, my Nuvi360 is arriving this today or tomorrow after two weeks or waiting.
LMK, if you are not testing it, let me get it from tc to test the address search, my hand is very itchy now.
