sg520i,
It depends on your luck. My friend once bought a new mercedes benz with a leaking fuel tank. She discovered it after smelling petrol while driving. My old E39 also got minor problems every now and then - like window cannot wind down, drive door cannot open, aircon cannot work, etc. As long as engine no problem, not so bad. In terms of reliability, I think Lexus is the best but Lexus not as thrilling to drive as E60. I may buy a Lexus GS when I replace my E60. The new 2005 GS looks very aggressive with 245horse power.

One big inconvenience with the E60 is that there is no boot lid release in the car. My wife was driving the car last week when I was away and she was trying very hard to look for the lever release in the car to release the boot lid and could not find it.

ed520,
whenever you send your car in...they will upgrade the software. The last time I went in to replace the LCD screen, they upgrade the software which took almost 3/4 of the day. Damn long man.
Kiasu,
Lexus? I always think that y pay so much for a jap car. No doubt it is a good car, but so much $ for the badge. There are always toyota version...which cost lot more cheaper. And you know...lexus new car price usually slide alot after 1 year. If you are buying...wait for a year after it launch. For those who bought the first batch...wapiang...already lost so much.
Yeah man...I tot only 520i doesn't come with the boot release button inside the car. 530i oso dun have. I always need to press the button on the key. But it doesn't work sometime....sigh...
Cheers.

agree it is an inconvenience.. i always lock the boot so while picking up people who need access to boot, gotta off the engine; take out the key and press the button... silly, isn't it? also who carries two keys all the time.

Zag, exactly what my wife did in the end - switched off engine, removed key, got out of car, pressed button on key to open boot lid. Kind of silly for such an expensive and sophisticated car.
Ed520, I am thinking of installing a string tied to the boot lid which I can pull in the car to release the boot lid. Any comments?
