tategoi, spoken to the paintshop guy at PML. He told me only PML has the water based metallic paint used on BMW cars. He said outside paintshop has same colour code but not water based. He said after repainting, will be more shiny that original because paint is new. So, got no choice but to let PML do the work. Anyone can confirm only PML has water based paint?
Water-based ah? Have not heard of it leh. I only heard of 2K paint If only PML has the water-based paint, I'd also go back to PML.

In my previous ride, the re-sprayed panel is proned to swirl marks more easily. Birds' bombings are also more damaging. This is because the resprayed paint is not as hard as the original one.

Also the original one gives you that orange-peel look reflection, but resprayed one has the smooth and straight reflection. Ask for the orange-peel look, to be consistent with the original one.

hahaha...kiasu...what water based? You want to see my side door? I bet you can tell it is water based or just 2k paint? I resprayed the whole door for only $150, plus knocking. Some sucker opened door his door wide...my door dented. For $600, I can respray 4 times. Imagine every year 1 time...that is four years. I always go to this shop in Yishun, all Mercs sent there for respray. They have a machine to mix all colors, as long as there is a color code. It has been four months, the side door still look very new. Previously my merc side door, also went for respray. It last me for 2 years and the color still new. Don't waste this kind of $ unless...hmm....you are damn loaded...

I recommended all my friends with bmw, mercs there...all happy. I am not related to this shop ...just tell you not to pay so much $ to PML...heh heh.

Confirmed PML uses water based paint while outside shops use oil based paint. PML is using water based for environmentally friendly reason. Oil based paint actually more shiny.

Last time my 320i also kana scratched on the fifth day after I took delivery. Don't have to say, my heart sank. So I sent in to PML and Mr Han was the one who attended to me. He charged me $600 for a door. Ok, I let him do it. But I find that his job is ehh...not too good. Color is the same, but the metalic thing not evenly spread out...those sparkling flakes like not even. Later I changed to merc, my door also got 3 dents. very deep. Went to PDR, winston said tough job. So my friend in C&C recommended me to this guy in Yishun. He charged me only $120, no knocking and the job is good!.

For my e60, I parked in carribean condo. It is brand new and not many private cars...many contractors' vehicles and lorry. I suspected they purposely hit my car. Because my car is very nice hahahaha. Just kidding. Anyway I am used to all this nonsense...so this time i said...aiya...again. The dent was really very very deep. And it is a vertical line like a door shape. Only respray help. So I went back to Yishun...wow...the job is good. 1 day only. He even gurantee 1 year. I bet you can tell if it was being respray. Most C&C cars visit them. Esp merc. Anyway you have already fixed the appt....So good luck lah. To me, don't waste that kind of money. Cheers la.

sg520i, you have my sympathy. And thanks for the information about the Yishun paint shop. Can you tell me the address, person to contact and phone no? I can still cancel my appt with PML if I find the Yishun shop reliable. Do they specialise in paint job and dent removal? thanks

I also don't remember which block, but I just know how to go...it is behind Murata Electronics Factory, it shd be industrial park. You can call him before that: Kent Spray. Tel:67588367. You tell him Koh(my friend), who sent in many bmw to him for paint works...he will know. He won't charge you high.

Cheers.
