It is my understanding that 2006 550s come with b-xenon lights.? Does this mean the DRLs will be xenon if activated?

OK. In summary for US folks.
1. No option for on/off of DRL in iDrive
2. Dealer CAN turn DRL on or off for a cost or no cost (most likely courtesy)
3. With DRL on, instrument lights and exterior lights are on in Auto mode. So, in Auto mode with DRL on, your lights are as if you have them on at night.

In my wife's Sequoia (Toyota), the DRL is on only on the headlight (high beam at low setting, i think) and the instruments are off. I think this is to save bulb life. As for the bimmer, I think it would require a software upgrade.
