DRLs are mandatory in Canada, and BMW ships the same spec cars to US & Canada, so we in the US don't get the option in iDrive.
Thanks.
Silver gray really is a beautiful color. I took that pic when I first got the car--took a bunch of pix--and that one is by far my favorite--it's a great angle for the E60.

Your pic is so good. I stare every time I see it. It reminds me of how good our silver grays look.

I believe the latest CIP version is 19.xx and there is no option in the iDrive menu to control Daytime Running lights for U.S. owners.
Perhaps in a software update, but "when" is the question.
Yes, but to be more precise it is not in the CIP v.19 for the N. American market. Apparently (as stated by others but new to me), Canadian law requires DRL "on" at all times so the ability to turn it off is not a selectable feature by the vehicle owner. Cars that are shipped to Canada are the same ones shipped to the U.S. so I'm assuming this is also true for any future CIP upgrades.
I'm currently updated to v.19.0.1 (reported by my S.A.), but my service sheet lists it simply as 19.
Under the Vehicle Settings menu, and under the submenu 'Lighting', there is only an option to adjust the timing of the courtesy pathway lights.

In USA there is no Day Time Running Light, because it's not required like in Canada.
