I have my CPT9000 install scheduled for Monday. I am wondering if I should go for it, or get the 'pharding software upgrade' and move to a different carrier. (which I am reluctant to do) Number portability is not yet so easy.
Pharding how is the battery life of the V600 when using BT in the E60. That will determine whether that cradle is neccesary.

The recall was prompted by the camera problem and the Class Action suit regarding the dysfunctional Bluetooth. You really ought to check out the V710 forum at www.phonescoop.com

Hi - one question on all this.
If I DO NOT have Nav, will the phone, either BT or CPT9000 have voice activation?

pharding, from what you said, it sounds like you have to pair the phone each and every time you get into the car with BT? is that correct? wouldn't that become a pain. Are you sure that it can't be automatic? I thought that was the way they all worked? Is it a phone issue or a vehicle issue?
So my car built in May should be able to have bluetooth retrofitted then correct?
Did they give you any indication about cars with NAV wanting to get Sat. radio installed? (those after March were not allowed to get sat. prep. at all).

Since your car was built in May, you should be able to Bluetooth with the software upgrade and software settings by the dealer. Before the dealer does anything they send your VIN to BMW to confirm that you have the right build for the software fix upgrade.
I do not know anything about the Sat radio, but I will look into it.

I hope other people get it done soon so word gets around.
This IS a wonderful true story! I called Bob Paduch in this morning at Motor Werks in IL, and got the details. Amazingly, he said everything worked and the procedure worked, including Assist! I asked why my Parts or Service Manager did not have this information and why BMWNA Customer service says the option will not be available on MY2004 E60's.
Surprisingly he said the Parts or Service Managers usually don't know, that you need to ask for the "Shop Foreman". So I called DeSimone BMW in NJ 856-983-8400 and asked for the Shop Forman who's name is Wim. Wim said that the whole car needs to be upgraded with S/W version 13.2 and the job should take about 2 hours.
What a story. Now if Verizon fixes the V710 next week, I'll be all set. Otherwise, Cingular and AT&T merged today, so I will use one of their Motorola Bluetooths.

skipper, the sat/nav issue has not been resolved for MY04 yet.
I like the idea of the cradle for the BT phone. It sounds like that's the best solution...
I haven't heard about this recall... will the firmware update enable OBEX? or will it further disable bluetooth? I heard that Verizon might go the latter route since bluetooth is incompatible with their business model of charging you for everything.
