Okay, now I'm really confused. I talked to Garry @ BMW of Newport, RI a couple of weeks ago about ordering the BTUM module with all the necessary hardward (like the CPT 9000 parts, cradle, eject box, etc). He called me back saying that since I had a Feb 04 build the CPT 9000 would not work and I would have to wait until Jun/Jul to get a CPT 8000. Since you are up the road, I'd like to talk to you about your car and the upgrade. I'll send you a PM.

Anyone else with an earlier (02/04 build)? I never had the CPT 9000 installed but was waiting to see if I enabled the BMW assist and hoped it would not work and that way BMW would upgrade the TCU without having to pay big bucks.
See my other thread here about adding the BTUM to the CPT9000 service--that is how it is done. Mine is 10/03, and I just had CPT9000 service enabled by programming, and then they installed the BTUM module in the armrest. (about $600 with everything, but the phone, which I already had: Verizon E815).

Cheers,
Ray Hull

Okay, there Ray Hull. You have convinced me to give it a shot since you have had the most posts on the BTUM and experience. I'll order the parts and go from there and see where I end up. The guys at the local BMW dealership said they had done a lot of 7's. No fives but were confident that it would work. My current phone is Cingular Motorola V551.

I did not need the BTUM installed. My car's TCU was replaced (I'm assuming), and when I went to pick it up, noticed my cpt9000 wasn't working. Low and behold, in the communications settings, bluetooth was there! My treo 650 pairs perfectly..

I am having a problem (and they are scheduled to fix it) where no one can hear me (I can voice dial, car rings on incoming call, I can hear the caller)

Now, anyone wnat to buy my cpt 9000 and cradle?

I have the same problem as you James except I have the BTUM. I can receive calls and make calls and hear the other person but they can't hear me. The first time I took my car in they replaced the phone cradle and everything worked fine. But two weeks later it stopped working properly and people could not hear me. I took my car in again and they told me that my phone was the problem (Razr from T-Mobile) since they were able to get the system to work properly with other phones. So I went to T-Mobile to get another phone but that did not solve the problem. So I took my car in today to get it looked at again. Hopefully they can fix it this time. I will let you know the results.

Thanks. I'm working with United in Duluth, GA., so anything I find out I'll post here as well. I have this issue under a separate thread, so maybe we could just use that.

Good luck,

james

Hey James,
I am using United also and they first told me they had never heard of the BTUM and now tell me I need a new TCU. I don't think they know what in the hell they are talking about. Can you put me in touch with someone at the Duluth store who is familiar with the BTUM? I bought an ejectbox and BTUM on eBay and just need coding to recognize the ejectbox, right?, I never had a cpt9000 - does that make a difference?

Thanks,
Scott
