"all that other crap" does make a difference, but some people can't tell the difference. Others - think its placebo. Its a long-going discussion among audiophiles. To me it made a difference - I know bc I was running my setup with shitty cables for a couple of years before upgrading. When I switched the cables, its was like tadaaaaa - that's what they are supposed to sound like. But again, sometimes it really doesn't make much difference - it all depends on your own requirements of the system, I guess; the kind of music you listen to, the transports. Some people go nuts and get stereo amps and forego the whole surround thing altogether, get seperate DAC's and so on... its really kinda like modding a car ![Evil](https://5series.net/forums/images/smilies/imported/evil.gif)

Oh yeah, trust me, I know. I just don't feel a need to post every detail like the isolated cables (speakers and connectors), etc, etc.
To be honest, I can't hear the difference between using different cables but I did hear a difference after adding the Panamax conditioner. My stuff is 5-6 years old too. My receiver doesn't have optical.

In my experience, boxless speakers such as Vandersteen, Martin Logan and Magneplanar requires a high current/low impedance amplifier to get the best sound. Receivers don't cut it. As far as cables go, if you use all high end equipments then it would make a difference. I doubt if you can hear the difference with low or mid level stuffs.
I'm at phase in my life where I'm perfectly happy with an iPod and Bose headphone. It's used to be that my audio equipments cost more than my car

Monster for your audio hook ups.

Seriously, there can be better connectors to be had for the $$s that you spend on Monster.

Monster Cables? And next you may recommend Bose for transducers?
