forum.audiogon.com - for audiophile opinions and reviews.

My personal preference in speakers has always been Bowers & Wilkins, but I buy speakers mostly for music and only marginally for movies. I have a set of 600 series B&Ws right now, powered by a Marantz SR5400 6.1 amp - it sounds AMAZING! But my amp is basically crap by modern standards - it is only there to provide good power to the speakers, it lacks all the modern features, like HDMIs and so on. You might wanna look to some Rotel amps for great quality and good voice-matching to the B&Ws, as they are made by the same people.

Just FYI, to get better sound than I have you'd have to go seriously into 4 or even 5 figure systems, while my speakers ran about 600 a pair and my amp - 550 or so. My speaker cables are upgraded also (home made, bought them broken in for $50), and my next step will probably be power cables and power supplies.

For transport I use a PS3 running a wireless connection with my computer. I have a couple of pro DJ turntables, but I've put them in storage a while back, as I personally don't have to have that whole vynil thing - I'm fine with good ol' high quality mp3's and flac's. PS3, btw is a wonderful device, but if you don't play games and want a Blueray player that will produce good sound signal as well, you should look through the reviews on audiogon - at any given time there are a few inexpensive ones on the market. I recommend you get one that has Netflix capability already built in.

PM me if you find something and want me to tell you what I think of it - I love this audio- and videophile stuff (almost as much as e60 )

I have a Denon receiver and Polk surround sound and I am very happy with the setup. Let me know if you need specific models and I can PM you.

Depends on your budget, room size, and listening preferences.

I used to hang around there back in the day.
Still get the email updates.

It would be helpful to get a budget then we can tailor this to your needs.

Something tells me that there won't be any pics of belt-driven vynil transport playing through custom-made horn, driven by tubes on this thread

so I decided to post some:

forum.audiogon.com is like my own personal little audiophile porn site - I know, I know - I'm sick its under control

Denon, Rotel, Marantz are great receivers to start with

as far as speakers go, Vandersteen cannot be beaten for any amount of money
