if it makes you happy to think MS was in a great car and hence his records, so be it. Thats up to you. For me, if you really want to see where ferrari was at the time of his entry into the team, study what the team mate could do with the car. That there would have been the true standard of Ferrari.

cheers

Ps: Anyone here a follower of John Surtees? His son died today while racing in f2. was watching the action as it happened. It must be sad for the dad to see his child go before he has. I can't even imagine how he must be feeling. Sigh!
Take care guys...

I just heard about Masa. Wow, I hope he can recover.
Re John Surtees, the Petty's went through the same thing. Adam Petty was a young rising star in NASCAR when killed. Kyle, his father is still racing and Richard Petty, the grandfather retired years ago, still with the most ever NASCAR victories. I think Lee Petty, the great grandfater who raced in the 50's and 60's passed away the same year as Adam.
Unfortunately it seems many racing families end up with some tragedy.

I just couldn't enjoy the race today knowing of Massa's injury. Two freak accidents of this nature within a week of each other is unsettling. That photo above with the glazed eye was one I had seen earlier and it's just a haunting image. What are the odds?

Congrats to Hamilton, Kimi, and Webber on a great effort today.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery, Felipe.
+1

not much to say about the race -- I just hope Felipe makes a swift recovery

I heard about this family. I don't tend to watch much of the racing states side but that story was another sad one. THanks for mentioning.

I guess we sometimes forget that in the racing world, accident do and can happen. Safety has come a long way but we can never eradicate the danger.

cheers

Who will replace Massa for the rest of 2009? He is done for at least this season, perhaps forever.

My money is on: Spoonface, or Senna.

Let the speculation begin.

I doubt Spoonface as you call MS would return to F1. But i've heard that Alonso is a possible candidate. We'll see.

Hey Guys Felippe Massa is better, still sadeted but yday family and pregnant wife has seen him, he was awake for a while.

They say he may recover totally 'tho his left eye is injurred and he may not race any more thxed to that, well I hope this ain't happen.
He was very lucky as over 280 Km/h a 1 kg spring caused it please note that at that speed it is a 1 ton collision...
If anything new come up will tell you... fast recovery Massa!

... I think Alonso and Kimi may race together or if Kimi leaves there will be the new Spanish test racer. MS will not return to F1 ever....

Alonso cannot drive for both Renault and Ferrari - even with Renault's one race ban for Valencia.

Spoonface may not be 100% since his bike accident in February, but even Domenicali hasn't ruled him out to replace Massa.

So he for sure will! But will Massa?

All my heart goes to Felipe Massa and the Henry Surtees family.

Is it possible for two (!) Formula drivers to get killed and very close to,
in freak accidents within a week?

Yes!???

On the news today they claimed that Massa's future in F1 could come to an end due to his eye. I hope this isn't the case but we will know sooner or later.

If there is an opening at Ferrari (I hope not though), then I would suggest Nico Hulkenberg. From wiki, anyone who brake tests another driver today must be worthy of an F1 drive. We need more characters like this. I also think his race career is not too bad.

"2005 saw his debut in German Formula BMW. His first season was a very successful one, with H?lkenberg dominating the championship and winning the title comfortably. He finished first in the Formula BMW world final but was stripped of the win after it was claimed he had brake-tested his rivals during a safety car period."

That said my concern now is with massa. What a nice man and what bad luck.

cheers
