Hey Guys Felippe Massa is better, still sadeted but yday family and pregnant wife has seen him, he was awake for a while.

They say he may recover totally 'tho his left eye is injurred and he may not race any more thxed to that, well I hope this ain't happen.
He was very lucky as over 280 Km/h a 1 kg spring caused it please note that at that speed it is a 1 ton collision...
If anything new come up will tell you... fast recovery Massa!

... I think Alonso and Kimi may race together or if Kimi leaves there will be the new Spanish test racer. MS will not return to F1 ever....
Thanks for the updates ats77. Much appreciated.

Massa's optic nerve behind his left eye has been damaged to an unspecified degree. He will definitely not be returning for the remainder of the 2009 season. It maybe career ending, let's hope not.

It was reported that the operation on Massa's skull on Saturday saved the 28-year-old's life.

Yup.. it looks like it. Reports now already suggesting Ferrari need to look at a replacement driver. Alonso seems to be a name that keeps popping up in most articles. There usually isn't smoke without a fire nearby.

'Alonso and Ferrari have denied that a deal is in place, but rumours persist that the two-times world champion has signed a contract.... '

Cheers

I don't know whether there is conflicting reports, but this is the latest information from Massa's own website http://www.felipemassa.com/ ( choose language then look under latest news under the headline 'More positive news for Felipe'

It says he has communicated coherently in three different languages, and he has opened his left eye, and confirmed he can see with it. Lets hope this is true and he will regain full vision and be back racing soon...

Thanks for that. Some how I feel his website may be over stating his recovery.. but then again, we can't tell. Lets give it time and hope for the best. I am sure ferrari and massa will come out with a proper report in time.

cheers

Who will replace Massa for the rest of 2009? He is done for at least this season, perhaps forever.

My money is on: Spoonface, or Senna.

Let the speculation begin.
can rule out Schumacher. Willi Webber said he is 200% sure MS will not race again. Maybe Senna as you have speculated.

Mark Gene is the Ferrari test driver and first pick.

Massa will be in 100% condition until next season.

Remember Mika H?kkinen's bad crash in Adelaide,
do to a broken tire, in Australia '95?

After that he became a double F1 World Champion!

Schumacher apparently would consider a temporary return to Ferrari:

The only top level choice who could keep the car competitive, but could save Ferrari the appearance of permanently supplanting Felipe before his long term prognosis is fully determined.

F1 braced for BMW exit announcement

BMW's future in Formula 1 is in serious doubt amid mounting speculation that the German car manufacturer will announce its withdrawal from the sport at the end of this season, on Wednesday.

An emergency press conference has been called at BMW's headquarters in Munich, where it is suggested that the car company may reveal that it has decided to end its involvement in F1........
