Hey guys!!! Guess what, i've installed my tail lights... It's a success!!! ... what xxterxx said about the lights being plug & play was bull shit (i think by now everybody knows) but what he said about the blinking was true...i did't try to install the lights myself because i definately can't do it, so went to a local bmw specialist to install it...bought the e46 retrofit cable to do it...the turn signals will blink fast, so an extra bulb was wired, and everything works like a charm...i'm a happy man!!!

Glad that E46 retro-connector worked ... even modded
So we have to search for an appropriate resistor to fix the turn signal issue.
Did you get any fault messages ???

No...Everything is fine...But i've been told that blinkers were going too fast, so a small bulb was wired up on both sides and was hidden inside the covers (tricking the system or module or something...) Nick, i'm very eager to post pictures here, can you tell me how to? pictures actually express things better than words...

I thought the E46 had a different 7 pin plug. I'm guessing you've used one side of the e46 retrofit cable and the other side has been opened up and connected to the lights. Yes pictures would most definately help a lot of people.
You will not get the Browse option for attaching images with the FastReply so use the AddReply and then browse to an image, upload it, then choose the image from the image list and click the Green + button to add that image to your reply.

Please help! What the part number of "e46 retrofit cable"? Could you ask your local BMW specialist?

http://bmwfans.info/part-61120153650/

Set of retrofit cabl., tail light facel.

Part number: 61 12 0 153 650

But I wouldn't buy these just yet. It'll be quite a wasteful purchase if you have to remove one end of the plug anyway because it doesn't slot in. Also the fact that a resistor is still needed means that you need to modify that.

How much did the Dealer charge by the way to install this Whole thing? If reasonable I might go for it too!

I was charged RM150.00(for labour), for the modded retrofit cable around RM150.00, and the lci tail lights around RM2,000.00... (FYI, RM1.00 = US$0.376) But, i didn't install it at the dealer, it was installed at a local BMW specialist here in KL...the lci models are not launched yet here in malaysia. from what i heard, it'll only be here by end of the year...oh, and coolguy, i'll try to do that...once posted, will notify you guys out there...
