The OTHER side socket is the all important part because without that the Retrofit cable is useless. Infact if I had just the OTHER plug I would simply remove the connectors from the existing plug and rewire them into the OTHER plug.

If that is the case my guess is the part required is 61 13 3 333 333.

I think I've just spent money on a worthless cable!! It of course provides me with a plug a play option because of the one side.

Also i think we'll need the capacitor for the taillamp LEDs as well. I went back to see wpg31's movie of the lights and although he says he can't see the strobing I think its there but not noticeble because of the background red light. It makes more sense logically if the LEDs were strobing than not actually.

It makes sense why BMW are making a retrofit kit for this.

A capacitor will also be needed for the Turn lights to avoid the initial strobing effect.

I think the way the LCMs work is on car start-up they check all bulbs (therefore the initial strobing) thereafter they check the bulbs only if they are in use (makes sense).

Unless we can come up with a socket with an intergrated capacitor/resistor > we'll have to wait for the retrofit kit.

So long as we don't need an update. The update will only be included if the complete set of tail lights/kit is bought, but normally the capacitor/resistor will solve the blinking issue.

Ok just finished, lights installed, great look, minimal blinking, without the use of a bulb neither a resistor.
Why? Just because turn lights worked absolutely correct, with no fast blinking at all.
I don't know what to say, maybe Progman 25.01 supports them

Right side pins are opposite to the left side pins so it took me a while to assign them.
The initial blinking is just 5 sec thing and affects also turn lights and angel eye LEDs into the headlights. It must be at total dark to discover. Blinking lasts 0,3 sec every 1 sec, total 5 times at 5 secs and it is so fast and low bright that it's hard to see if there are street lights in the area.

I would say xxterxx was correct that they are plug and play, if we knew the correct pins assignment

Did you use a OEM 8 pin plug or simply stuck the connectors into the holder?

I'm sure the plug is 61 13 3 333 333. Maybe you can confirm this Nick.

I can't wait about 1-2 weeks for a connector to arrive.
I'm really confused which one is better, but there is not any 100% compatible, available yet.
If I could buy just the LCI end socket connector that plugs into the lights socket, then it could be the best solution.

So, I installed the wires directly to the pins.

edit: I will post pics later, showing how that 7 isolated pins, (in last pic) could become a quite safe connector

Bruce, your pin diagram is absolutely correct, except the bulb/resistor which in my case there was no reason to use it, because my lights worked perfect without it.

So the final pin assignment in my case is:

there is a pin for rear fog light? USA specs have that? i don't recall having a rear fog light.
