Wow...that's a hostile response. Not sure if it's directed at me but I'm 39 and have never blown a transmission so i'm sorry to dissapoint you. I'm very insulted. I didn't realize I was insulting anyone with my post and would warant this kind of response.
You weren't. That guy is being an idiot for some reason.

Asking how to launch your 550i is a legitimate question. It's not like you asked how to launch a 7 series

+1 Marc. I bought a 550 because I need a mid size sedan's size but I still love to go fast under safe conditions from time to time. Nothing wrong with that. Frankly, if you don't value power, there are less expensive versions of the E60 that are perfectly great cars in their own right.

Hold down the dsc button for three seconds. but be careful when doing so, the vehicle is likely to spin out

I have an automatic 550. I just turned off the DSC and held the brakes, gave her gas and help on - lol. Laid down about 20 feet before stepping of the gas. Would it be easier to place the car in neutral, give it gas and tap the brake to allow me to pop it in drive? I'm trying to learn a safe way to accomplish this without damaging my car. Also, I'd like to make an impression on some punks next time they try me at a stop light. I'm sure this is much easier in a manual
Laying down rubber? Getting a good launch? How about launching rubber....
