Hey everyone! So I just bought a 2006 550i last week, and this was the first mod I tried ahahah... and I have to say.. there was a HUGE difference between regular mode and sport mode.

My car is a 2006 550i, servotronic steering, premium package (no sport package), regular steptronic auto tranny

I can say that when in sport mode, the car's steering gets much heavier, the transmission shifts gears more aggressively, and the throttle response has gotten much much better. Even past the initial take-off, the throttle response is better. It also likes to downshift and stay in lower gears much more than regular mode. I did notice that when stopped at right turns, you REALLY have to be careful when giving gas from a rolling stop cuz the car just wants to fly! Completely different vehicle. I LOVE this mod. Thanks a lot guys!

I plan on installing the oem shifter plate and sport button in the summer though cuz I'm a little scared of drilling into the one I have now

I was nervous about drilling mine also, but it was very easy. I did mine in the car. I just popped it loose, put a towel underneath and held it in one hand, drill in the other. Just make sure you have the proper size drill bit for the $4 switch and you'll be set. Fishing the wires was actually more difficult for me.

Another quirk to watch out for is when you're Sporting around town, then turn into a parking lot and forget that the steering is going to be heavy when you're wheeling it around in there. I had to jump up on the wheel in one instance because i'm used to that easy glide feeling and was too close for comfort to a curb!

I suppose with Active Steering it's even heavier at slower speeds because you get more wheel turn with less steering wheel turn.

Why isn't this thread stickied? I think its one of the most important and effective mods ever for this series.

Blackstealth, i completely agree. My last post was about how i almost launched into the car in front of me after driving normally for an hour then putting it into sport at a light.

Does anyone have a video of the difference of shiftspeeds in an automatic between the standard and sport modes?

I know that on really cold days, the transmission on the E60 shifts EXTREMELY fast as the engine is warming up, and I'm wondering if the sports button brings that back...

Is this something that you can have coded to stay on if you wanted to?

I can only seem to find decent pictures of pre-LCI models. Anyone got any pictures of this on an LCI car? I have a 540i 2007 w/o the button and an F11 with sport and I know it makes a huge difference on the F11, as a matter of fact, I never drive without it...

I'd really like the crisper pedal/throttle response on the 540i, but don't know where to start looking.

Glove box? A169 = Center Console Switch ... Try do it there instead 'cuz that switch box the one that send the signal to the control boxes behind the glove box.

What about the pins? Do I just stuff a wire into the slot or do I need to find a pin that I can fit into the slot?
