Even though bardel is right and "at" 5 mph increments is tecnically correct, I bet 80% of people who read it will assume that it means going up/down from the current speed by 5 mph. So in the interest of clarity I would have explained it in a longer sentence like Rudy did.

From what I understood, the compartment is only present if the car has Logic 7. My old 2005 535d did not have the compartment, but my 2007 M5 does. The bigger logic 7 amp means the panel is a slightly different shape creating a empty space below. The empty space was put to use creating the storage compartment.
My 2004 330xi has it, and i donot have Logic 7 .......
