I know, I know, I'm anal! You guys are just going to have to deal with it!!
That's why I said at 5 mph increments, rather than in 5 mph increments!!

Anal indeed!

Gotcha -- my analness wanted to make sure that others didn't misinterpret it as well. It's a very common misconception -- I've even heard dealer personnel explain it incorrectly...

I didn't realize my score was reset to zero. Don't I get credit for the past?

Low tech neat trick to significantly improve comfort Rather than leaving my wallet in my hip pocket, I put it in the slot in between the parking brake and the console. This is much more comfortable.
So funny, just where i keep mine. My cell phone fits in there too when im too lazy to slip it in the snap in adaptor.

I hate stuff in my pockets.

I have comfort seats, that close in around your torso when the car is started, but does not,....(as far as I know) have the dynamic bolster function found in the M5. However, when I drive the car, I get the feeling of very subtle adjustments taking place with the side bolsters.....am I mad??

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news -- I don't think you'll get any US dealer to activate this feature (I don't think it's even possible to do with the US based software...) The all close feature does work with the key in the door or, if you have comfort access, you can hold your hand on the lock area of the door handle and everything will close.
I'm not sure if it's a specific option that we have that takes away that compartment or if it's something new with the LCI cars. What options do you have that are common to my options?

Hi Rudy,

My 2008 M5 is fully loaded. From what I recall about your 550i you also have active steering, active cruise control, lane divergence....

My M5 does not have those as options. I thought perhaps it had to do with the quad exhaust not allowing enough space for things, like a spare tire.

Stuff has to fit somewhere and I guess that storage space was tapped? Not sure though -- Maybe some time I'll just find a way to peek behind that space.

I'm with Rudy on this one. Even though bardel is right and "at" 5 mph increments is tecnically correct, I bet 80% of people who read it will assume that it means going up/down from the current speed by 5 mph. So in the interest of clarity I would have explained it in a longer sentence like Rudy did.

You can't change that setting in iDrive -- it's a mechanical thing. It could be worse -- in a Mercedes, the door would unlock and open with only one pull!
Hi Rudy,

It didn't do that in my Mercedes - not for the passengers anyway. They had to wait for me to push the switch on the dashboard. Of course, I could open my (drivers) door okay.

Maybe, like other things, it varies by region.

Regards

Martin

Here is another trick that I don't think any of you know about...

1) Stand behind car
2) Tap the BMW logo on your key 3 times
3) Kiss the BMW logo on your key ONCE
4) Spin around 3 times, while looking up at the sky towards god.

5) Open your trunk manually and WHA-LA!

A beautiful blonde, with every perfect feature you've ever dreamed of should appear.

If it doesn't work the first time, repeat immediately.

PS - This trick only works in very crowded parking lots with a lot of people around.
