Well then at least you have a "toy" to enjoy in the meantime.
The 335xi is a fun toy.

Scott, I really hope your car gets fixed and you're good to go for the Rte. 125 meet - God knows they have enough time to fix it. I too have doubts it is the battery, because a dead battery does not come back to life to start the car after having done nothing but "click". Sounds like some electrical connection is loose or faulty somewhere or maybe the starter was the problem and it's already over. Sure hope it is. Either way, GOOD LUCK, buddy We're all here for ya
Thanks. I hope that the starter is it. It sounds right. The Pa SR 125 meet is Sept. 19th. I am sure that the problem will be fixed long before then. If it isn't, and it keeps stranding me and Victor, I'll be talking lemon law.

As many of you know from my thread last week about this, my car wouldn't start and had to go back to the dealership for repairs because the battery was dead and it would not start.

Well, lo and behold, right after today's Tri-State Meet, it happened again. I was at the Roosevelt Field Mall with member brabusw209amg and it took my three tries before my 6 month old car would start. The first two times, I pushed the starter button and heard nothing but the futile clicking of the starter. The third time it finally turned over.

I am bringing my car back to Circle on Monday. I expect to write a funny thread about the loaner car.

A week ago when I last took it into Circle BMW, they told me that the battery had been drained, that they had fully recharged it and it was "fine". They refused to give me a new battery, claiming that there was nothing wrong with the battery and that they could not identify any source of electrical drain. They also claimed that the alternator was fine. Obviously, they were full of crap and I am about ready to threaten then with invoking the lemon law (probably too early legally but I want to let them know that if they do not fix this problem, they will wish that they never met me).

Needless to say, I'm pissed. There is no excuse for a $70,000 6 month old car not to start. Kerry, you will be happy to know that I have ditched the Circle BMW license plate holders for ones fro TT Motorsports.

Has anyone had a similar experience?

Sorry to hear that, maybe write a letter to BMW headquarter will help.

Thanks.

Well I expect to get the car back tomorrow. The dealer told me that the solenoid in the starter was defective, requiring the replacement of the whole starter.

Interestingly, the SA told me that the starter is really buried and that it takes 10-15 hours of labor to get to it, replace it and put the car back together. Accessing the starter requires the removal of the exhaust and the catalytic converter.

This is a warranty repair. The dealer told me that if this was not under warranty, the repair woudl cost between $2,000 and $3,000 due to the heavy labor involved.

Yet another reason why I would not want to own a BMW out of warranty.

I dont believe it takes 10-15 hours to replace it. They must be BSing you. But hey, who cares? Ur not paying!

Come over and lemme drive the loaner! LOL. Last time I went to the gas station and told them to fill it up, they filled it up with 87 octane....in a 335i!!! They said they assumed since it was a loaner, they r gonna put cheap gas in there. LOL. Oh well, I still drove it like I stole it and no pinging or missing.

That really sucks! Well, a 335 loaner is great. I got pulled over last time because I had a 335 as a loaner. Thank god he respected my PBA card. It was a highway patrol too! Those things pull HARD!

Yes, the 335 loaner is a lot of fun to drive. I love the acceleration.

As far as the amount of effort it takes to access and replace the starter, I don't know why they would BS me as it is a warranty repair.

If I had time tomorrow, I'd be happy to swing by and you beat om the loaner Vlad style. Tomorrow, however, is a busy day with a lot of meetings and then I have to drive all the way back to Eatontown to return the 335 snd get back my car.

At some I will need to swing by as one of the rows od LEDs in the rear dome light is out. But, of course, that will be with the 550 and not the rocket-sled 335.

I never beat on loaners - I never beat on anyone anymore - I'm grown.
But even when I did used to beat on someone, I never picked loaners - I always had friends that needed to get some steam off too
