I usually drive about 350 miles until I am "nearly" empty. The farthest I have driven on a tank of gas is 405 miles.

I have the same "Range" with fill up and actual mileage....the computer is running a simple program that takes actual speeds recently driven, loads, etc. and calculates your range from this. If you just got off the freeway and then filled up, the range would be some astronomical number as compared to filling up just after driving in stop and go traffic around town. It really is a VERY simple formula, and while it IS accurate, it's only accurate for that moment in time and changes instantly based upon new speed data etc.

My Ride: 2005 BMW 545i, Titanium Silver. Bridgestone 760s on Weds Bavaria II 18" wheels, standard sport pack size. Sport, AT. Latest job - NGK Iridium IX plugs installed.
With our 325i the fillup range and the actual are pretty close, but with the 545i if I sit for any length of time at the light the range just depreciates..so far my average speed is around 41mph and my average fuel economy is 21.3mpg
