"Service Engine Soon" light after muffler delete
Hey guys, i did a muffler delete on my 04 545i about a week ago, cut off the stock mufflers, installed a straight pipe out to some tips, and plugged the vacuum line that controlled the exhaust valve. The car sounds amazing, however, today as i was driving, the car hesitated and started vibrating and the service engine soon light came on with "increased emissions" on the idrive screen, the hesitating/vibrating went away after a little but i pulled over anyway and turned off the car. When i turned it back on it started fine and there were no problems other than the service engine soon light was still on, and the increased emissions was still on. The car drove normal after that but why are those lights still on? Could it be because of the muffler delete? I heard somewhere that the ECU has to adapt to the exhaust change but not too sure. Any help is appreciated.

I don't believe there is anything causal here, just coincidence. I replaced my center muffler and deleted the rear on my 05 545 and had no issues. Have the code read at an auto part store and go from there. Good luck

Muffler delete itself won't make your light go off.
What MAY have happened however is during the process of the cutting/welding/vibration from the newly added resonance may have shaken something else loose up front. Perhaps there is a leak near the exhaust manifold or cat converter.
