Would Garmin maps (or those from malsingmaps) be able to put our own POI by indicating Longtitude and Latitude or by physically pointing it on the map itself?
33, if you are concerned about this, read on:

http://www.garmin.com/support/downlo...ls.jsp?id=1529

especially this: Added a Where to? -> coordinates button for creating waypoints using lat/long

cheers!...for this, i reckon that the address search is also addressed...

sucks hor!

typical question from someone foreign to e60 sitting in the pax seat...

Q: wah got screen ah?
A: ya

Q: "can play movie?" TV?
A: "nope"; nope

Q: "got GPS?"
A: nope

Q: then what the hell is the bloody screen for?
A: to read the detailed faulty message when the dreaded "trr dong" chimed
this is funny!

i got these questions ranging from friends, colleagues, bosses, CEO's and my "techno idiot" wife!
a full 2 years and 7 months owning the car, i have to answer the same...huh....don't know..

that is why i install so many gadgets in order not answer idiotic questions lor.

can play movie like my Cefiro? "YES"... not only that it's DVD some more, Cefiro only can play VCD. moreover, this thing can play even on the move...Cefiro can only watch when stationary.
got TV? "YES"...wa, my Cefiro cannot play TV.
can have GPS? "YES"
wow! cool!

not only that! it can also play my 10,000 songs through itunes, and sms and phone and surf the web and answer emails......on and on and on....

my suggestion is to wait for your set come in first (i doubt it as we ordered at too low a price)
fingers crossed!

anyway, bring your set down to PW, slot in the SD card and try before buying from them, till then, we can group buy lor! meantime, using malsingmaps is pretty good actaully.

Hi LMK,

When are you expecting to receive your Nuvi? If you have the unit before 3 June, you can test the Nuvi with the SD (Garmin Sing/J.B maps) of my C320 at Ed's GTG.

33,

Wow, you make decision real fast. I am using the Garmin 320 and I have to highlight to you that my unit does quite often reminds me to "keep right", though it may not be so often as your TIBO. I think the reason is when we choose " the fastest" instead of "shortest" route. The GPS remind us to keep on the right hand side of the road as it is the faster lane. I am not sure if the Nuvi works the same.

Tategoi,

Last nite, I tried donwload the latest version of software for my Garmin C320 thru Garmin product Webupdater. Guess what? Now my time zones selection have only all the US cities!! hehehe...

Probably have to go to PW and do some reset.

Yes, my rush into buying the Tibo 2 day ago and now the Nuvi 360...all in a span of 48hrs! But I figured this is still cheaper than the $10K which PML would charge for the GPS option...

The Tibo guy told me BMW used their map "some Atlas thing.." if so, I would really pity those people having forked out the $10k... to get a piece of crap...

no prob bro.
but i think the garmin maps is locked to set specific and not transferable from set to set.

Is there a selection to choose your time zone while updating? i thought you can select Singapore?

i think about the same, but i learn that the 60CS "recognise" map for geocaching whereas Nuvi is more for road nav. i think Nuvi will remind you to go right if you choose the fastest route, Nuvi can also route to your favourite way.

the answer is NO.
the map is done by VDO exlusive. PML and BMW Asia has get out of it although initially was 3 parties to initiate the maps.
therefore the maps updates from PML will cost 1.1k to update and charge by VDO. too ex in my opinion compared to Garmin.

well, whatever it is, i am sure the original 3 parties venture had pulled the plug.
The reason that PML charge so highly for updates is not decided by PML anymore.
like our LCD on our CID, they also switched from VDO to Alpine. those mfg later than May 2005, uses Alpine display.
Also i understand that the price is high is due to the small market as it is BMW cars exclusive. updating needs time and money thus with such a small footprint, high price is unavoidable.

No leh, the webupdater just list out the latest version and I just update it. There is not option to choose anything. It's only after the update, I gone thru the manual of the C320 and found that the previous Asian cities have been replaced by U.S.
