LMK, Bugaboo,

OK! I have decided to go with the iPOD Video, TV Mobile setup for my ride. I dont really mind the reduced resolution of MP4 since we are using small screens anyway.

All I need to do now is to buy the iPOD Video (30G + cables (AV and Charger) and TV Mobile Tuner/Antenna.

Can you please offer details of your installer? If all goes well, I will send car with accessories in to installer this Friday.

Cheers,
bz: you can also try hong guan. he installed for me.

Bugaboo,

Thanks for the advices! The remote control of the homedoc is a very nice option to have and it includes all the necessary cables. However, finding an ideal place for the homedoc in our e60 is another issue.

Bugs/LMK: Another question, since we are going to feed video signal (in my case iPOD Video) through the video interface (product bought from Korea) and subsequently through the Aux In, wont the menu of the iPOD be displayed on the vehicle's screen (i.e. whatever you see on the iPOD screen be duplicated on the vehicle monitor)?

Anyway, I just remembered that I cannot send car to installer this Friday! Will have to do this early next week. Anyone want to go with me?

Cheers,

BZ,
I had checked with Apple and was told the menu on the remote control is currently having some bug. When press on the remote menu, it would not return to other function. This, they are sorting out but it a good choice which I am considering. Go to the Apple center at former Ocrhard cinema, the guys there are very helpful. I had my Macmini sorted out there.

Thanks LMK, the iPOD Universal Dock seems smaller but still have to find a suitable place to install it. Any advice? InfraRed remote needs line-of-sight rite? Additionally, can you advice which charger cable from iPod to use? All current charger for vehicle application uses the cigarette lighter. Can installer modify this so that power is directly connected to power source and not plugged into cigarette lighter?

Yankee, so, you are saying that there are some issues with the iPod Remote Control? Well, if I do decide to go with the iPOD universal dock, I can always purchase the Remote Control at a later date. Only thing is, where to place the Universal Dock in our e60.

Cheers,

I saw Edlee's SCQ27Z along Upper Thomson Road yesterday. I think it is the most beautiful E60 I have seen so far. The shine is unbelievable and it has a great road presence. I was driving along side his car and trailing him to get a better and closer look. Fortunately, the traffic jam allowed my E60 520i to catch up with his E60 545i. Hehe...

yes, you can modify, just un solder the cig lighter and wire it to a 12v point like behind the cig lighter point.
there are some good after market chargers that costs less than 20 bucks if you know where to find.

The remote can be purchased at a later date, just need the dock and cable. You can put the dock in the central arm rest compartment but the space would not be available for other use.

i'm looking at my ipod video and can't figure out how to redirect the menu interface to the tv out. I can direct the video to the tv out.

bz: you might want to check it out first.

A bit too late bugaboo! Already bought the iPod Video, iPod Universal Dock, and Car Charger. Apparently, AV cable is out of stock everywhere. Going to Sim Lim this evening to buy the TV mobile and try to get the AV Cable too. Wish me luck.

By the way, was informed by DY56 that there is a thread in this forum with pictures of an iPod on universal dock. Very neat and swee man. But must modify the ash tray and cigarette lighter.
