Hi Ed,
Was at Alexandra during lunch time two days ago and saw a Black 523i braking in front of me ..Saw the brake light a little different each time thecarstops.... Think it's their test car or maybe the new 523i stock already have this feature ??

Just got a positive response from Torsten re the BFD.?

"the two-stage brake light is for the E60 available here in Singapore!!
Today we programmed the first car (E60) and it is working fine. There
are no parts required and in generall the two-stage brake lights are
already approved by LTA."

I have sent him an e-mail msg asking if there will be costs involved.? Will keep you guys posted.

Ed, great news regarding BFD.

I was at PML on Saturday for the BMW.SG tech talk, and one of the demo cars was the BMW Asia Olivin 530i with full Pro Nav and HUD. The HUD looks great. It's very clever, although the image is projected on the windscreen, it's done in such a way that makes it look like it's on the "road", so it forces you to look into the distance instead of at just the windscreen, which is essential for such a thing to work.

Played with the pro nav, seems a bit complicated at first, but the graphics are quite detailed. Pity there's no Malaysian map though.

question about this bfd. Does it only activate when your abs is activated? Not sure how they define forceful braking. I hardly brake hard enough to activate abs.

Unfortunately, with all the things I needed to do Alexandra site asked for 3-4 days for the cars, and gave me a non-committed reply, leaving me feeling that it would be more than 3-4 days. Since they lied to me about other stuff, I couldn't quite believe that fellow. I opted to give them a pass.

That's why I ended up driving all the way to the east to do my service.

Hi Meng, I believe ABS doesn't depend on how hard you're braking, but rather if the wheels lock upon braking.

BFD is based on the how hard the brakes are applied, eg. in an emergency braking situation, it'll probably come on full blast whether or not ABS was activated.

normal deceleration braking say towards a traffic light will not light it up. however, if ur pressure increase byt another 30% more..that is sufficient to light it up. i tried it on the E90s at pasir gudang last week. same principle applies to E60s.

Why don't you guys believe me? The Alexandra Service Advisers ALWAYS give you crap. Never trust them. If even their Mr Henry Lim who is the most senior over there is not trustworthy, I don't think the soldier ants can be trusted at all. They are after all followers. A real pity that such a great brand has to have its reputation spoilt by these assholes.

Russo, my son and I are thinking about going for the IDT at around the same period. Why don't we try and get some response from the rest? Maybe can get some sort of group discount? Even if there's no discount, a group of us attending together should be fun.
