Do you work for a BMW dealership in NC? Just curious.
If you try and sue them he might.

this will solve your trunk problem:

I'll have to be honest though. I thought I was a complainer, but damn, this tops anything i've ever complained about.
The trunk opens up too fast?
Come on!

If that's the only problem you are having with your BMW, you my friend are in very good shape.

I tend to be very careful when I open the trunk to make sure that no one is back there and gets popped in the chin! Wouldn't bother me to see it open more slowly. However, love the car and dont want to be driving anything else.
I have a 2004 525i 6 speen manual. Just installed wood trim with cuddy hole myself, it was scary pulling my car apart. But got it done and I am so proud of myself.
I bet if I make precise comparison between my car's TRUNK OPENING SPEED (TOS) and 0-60 time, TOS would win hands down.
This is out of topic, my shifter is very slick and smooth. But it also is very long and slow. So there is no way I can beat my TOS.
I am afraid years of opening trunk at such speed will loosen my license plate screws and one day the license plate will fly into air when I open my trunk.
One question to knowledgeable owners, I listen to my ipod through input jack. Sound is not great, nowhere near CD sound quality. What can I do to improve the sound quality? Will changing speaker (tweeter, sub, woof) significantly help?
Thanks for reading my random nonsense.
Best,
Terry

One way to get an idea of the appropriate level is to play a CD in the stereo, then switch to the iPod without changing the stereo's volume. Adjust the iPod's volume until the sound level coming from the iPod is approximately equal to the sound level from the CD.
This is all a bit inexact, but the take home message is that setting the right output volume from your iPod is critical for best performance in this kind of hook up. It'll never be as good as a pure line level output, but should be close when dialed in properly.

The trunk on my 2004 530i "flys" open when released. I have to keep my hand on the top to of the trunk when I release it because I am concerned that it is going to someday crash in to my rear window. Does anyone else have this problem?
All the local dealer did was to move the spring to a different slot to change the spring tension. It didn't seem to make any difference. I had a 2007 loaner recently and the parts used seemed the same, but, the trunk did not fly open when released like my 2004 does. The dealer said that the parts are not interchangeable with my 2004.
I'm hoping that someone else has had this issue and knows how to solve it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
