The trunk on my 2004 530i "flys" open when released. I have to keep my hand on the top to of the trunk when I release it because I am concerned that it is going to someday crash in to my rear window. Does anyone else have this problem?
All the local dealer did was to move the spring to a different slot to change the spring tension. It didn't seem to make any difference. I had a 2007 loaner recently and the parts used seemed the same, but, the trunk did not fly open when released like my 2004 does. The dealer said that the parts are not interchangeable with my 2004. I'm hoping that someone else has had this issue and knows how to solve it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. |

There was a post on this issue back in the Spring , seems to me that someone figured out how to reduce the opening speed , check the search featrure on this Forum, good luck.

Why would anyone want to lessen the spring tension? Then you wont be able to catapult a cup of Starbuck clear past the hood!

If you haven't already done so you could install an e60 aftermarket wing. Did that with my
previous 530i and boy did it slow down the trunk opening. I had to open up the side panel and Adjust the tension tighter. From what I remember there were 4 to 5 slots to move the spring. -Cooltones |
