I ordered it before cutting mine open, figuring i could make it work either way. It seems like it should say it doesn't work with those types, because i don't remember a spot in the new fob where you would place those chips. Regardless, it worked for me. I'm really liking the other sleeker looking one now...off to ebay!

Update: I can't find it anywhere...

the one in post 18?? that one is gonna be thicker from top to bottom but thinner from side to side because the orientation of the key...where as the one from the first post will be wider but thinner from top to bottom I think I like the original better.....not sure though the looks of the one in post 18 caught my eye!

i ended up ordering the one the original poster ordered. the one i posted although looks very sleek, i was thinking with all the rubbing it will make against my other keys, the chrome on the side will flake/scratch/dull out and ill be left with a ugly key. as soon as i get the key i ordered in the mail i will add on to this thread my own DIY, and who knows, maybe ill end up ordering the other one and try that one out as well.

i don't think the blade swap is possible, as it works with the switchblade mechanism. it wont even be worth the trouble trying to figure out a way to switch it. i haven't received my key yet, but ive called a few locksmiths in the area, and they said it should be no problem cutting the blank, i was quoted between $30-45 from different places.

So if I get the Fob linked by the OP, swap the electronics bit, and get my local locksmiths to cut the blade, I have a working Fob for my car?

Also, any ideas about adjusting the remote buttons to fit in the new Fob ? How does the button placing work, as I could not gather anything from pictures?

Will really appreciate feedback on this. Cheers.

Yes, it worked for me. The chip with the buttons on it fits in the new fob in a way that holds it in the proper place for the buttons to work correctly.
