Two suggestions are POIEdit and POIConverter
- how to merge different poi
I just copy and paste the poi into one file
- where to find poi for France and Belgium
see this post http://forums.e60.net/index.php?s=&sho...st&p=296461 for some suggestions.

mathmos - I've edited my first post, and added a link to your website.

Have you thought about some Google ads...just to pay for the web hosting

I've been thinking about postcode searching. Apparently 2006-1 works but 2006-2 doesn't work. I wonder if it's simply a problem with ENG.ASC. And if so...we could fix it

Finally got an ISO editor, so I've now got speed cameras on my screen Now to be a little more adventurous. Thinking about tampering with the groups. I'll post the results soon. Just need to buy some mroe DVDs.

I hadn't but thanks for the suggestion. I suppose it won't hurt to give it a try though I shall be very surprised if I make anything at all through them! The idea behind the site wasn't to make any money, it was just a means of publishing the information that was easy for people to find and follow.

not sure where that search info is, it might be worth a compare between the 2006-01 and the 2006-02 to see if anything stands out.

Let us know how you get on.

mathmos, any idea why I get these errors when processing .asc files?

Can't take log of -1 at createidxurl.pl line 45, <FILE> line 175.

In fact they are .csv files, from GarminPOI.co.uk, but they look OK. Some convert OK, and some give this error. I can't see why.

It was mentioned a few posts ago that you needed to order the entries, but having checked that I'm sure it's not right. Files that work don't have them ordered. And if I order them, I still get the error.

Also, the perl script produces files called "idx" and "url". I thought it was supposed to create 9000.idx etc. Or whatever name you choose.

If it's a CSV format file, you can use it. Check mathmos' site (link in 1st post of this topic).

What version of perl are you using Cygwin, ActivePerl etc. ? If you want take this to PM so we don't annoy folks here or the admins whilst we try and work out what the problem is ....

No they don't have to be ordered, the perl script will do that for you.

not quite. the number you supply on the command line is the Category number for the POIs you want to add. For the idx and url files that it creates, you have to look in the tables\0 directory and find the last .idx and .url files listed and then rename the idx and url accordingly so they fit in with the sequence. Have a closer look at steps 12 & 13 of the ISO image method and steps 14 & 15 of the Nero method to see what I mean with regards the naming of idx and url.

Here's the results of my "groups hack". I've successfully added 2 groups. One for speed cameras, and one for favourites.

I created a list of company offices. Using postcodes, I translated them into long/lat using SteetMap.co.uk, and then created my own ASC file, and company logo (gif). Not because I need it, just because I could
