The CCC is basicaly a DVD player and as such is coded by region (region 1 for the US) like the DVDs for the computers. This is why the UK CCC wouldnt work in the US or the German CCC will send messages in German.
I've researched for many months as well.
I read somewhere that the parts are basically the same, but when you press the remote control, the car gets it's setting like language/region from the remote, just like your memory seat position etc.
I could be wrong, but I'm praying I'm right.
