i will never own a rwd vehicle as long as i live here in chicago

Mike, your car looks awesome! Did you lower? What are those wheels and did they fit just fine? Ironically, I have the same car, same color, and same Bears helmet on mine.

Thanks!

For example, my larger tire size fills my fenders very nicely, as if I'd lowered by 12mm, but it's not at all the reason I run larger diameter tires. I could do the same thing with 19 or 20 or 17. None of these "require" lowering but some people think looks are more important than function.

You can use 19's with a 26.7" tire and if the rim is set out near the fender, looks flush, the image will be pretty tight even though it's not actually lowered.

Here's mine with 8.5x18" ET 29 on 1" larger than stock, 26.7" tires (245/45x18). It allows me to drive just about anywhere, in fact I have 1/2" more ground clearance than the stock car which is better for snow, rough roads, or out of control parking lot speed humps and bad curb cuts.

Thanks for posting that - an interesting option. How is the ride? How much is the speedometer off?

Am I dreaming or is there now an alternative to KW V3 coilovers for our cars? According to KW's website, there's a fitment of the Street Comforts that fit XI's. Take a look:

http://kw-store.com/products/complet...e39-45865.html

A quick search shows these available in the $1700 range. Not cheap, but almost a grand less than the V3's. I'm pretty sure I need these!

I would get those but its pretty confusing when the description states "RWD" but at the bottom it states it will fit Xi's

Any change in tire size will change the speed and odometer, as well as fool with the gps map but it sorts itself out periodically. Tire size is simply a % change that you can then apply to the speed reading.

For example, it's barely worth noting on my car however on another vehicle I have the tire went from about 29" to 31.7" which nets me a ~10% increase. Quite important when pushing the limit in a 70mph zone. Thinking 75 is plenty safe from tickets, I was really running 75+7.5 ~83 on the patrol car radar which is why I got a ticket.

About the ride, I'm not sure what or why you are asking... the ride on 18's is going to be 'nicer' than larger rim sizes, and the larger tire is going to be even more compliant. I was actually worried about it being too soft in handling due to taller sidewall which is another reason I went with this specific Bridgestone - they make this tire very stiff in the sidewall with higher speed and load rating. It's very solid and a great ride.

Just off the phone with KW, the website is incorrect. Part # 18020038 is ONLY for the E39.
