So would you guys think I would be fine with a et30 all around with a 20x8.5? Its the only way the wheels are offered that are close and I'd rather not do a spacer.
Thanks in advance.

^ if you use a stock diameter tire, you should be fine, unless you drop the car too far which results in front fender liner issues. Take a close look at my photo of the front wheel, ET30 will be identical in offset but your tire choice will have an effect as well.

I'd stick with a 245/30x20 if i were you but that size is much more limited in choices than 255/30x20 which may fit, in the wheel well, but is ideally on a wider rim and will thus not be the ideal choice for handling characteristics. There are 11 choices on Tire Rack for the 245/30x20 so don't count on an run flats.

WOW! I paid 300 for springs and shocks/struts, WITH alignment included. Of course, my mechanic bitched about it later - he hadn't realized how much work it was actually going to be... but whatever...

okay, as for the DIY, you can simply use a DIY for stock spring swap - if you comb through the forum, you'll surely find something. I believe DrLev99 may have posted a DIY some years back. Please search though - it is very hard to provide these answers, that are already a matter of public record. Let us know if you come up empty - I'm sure we'll figure it out.

Oh, and how are you going to compress the springs? Rent the machine?

Nevermind, i just read the size of it.

I am new to the BMW world, I am picking up my 2008 535xi on thursday, and i just read all 28 pages here. interesting topic.

I come from an acura tl 2005 and i had hella flush style with very aggressive tire stretch. I had to roll fenders to make it fit right. Now i am from Boston so the roads here arent too good! but I dont care.

so, can the xi go with aggressive stretched tires on a staggered set up? I am planning in doing coilovers and 20" staggered, my goal is to have it very flush
