Ok, this discussion is rather silly... Of money wouldn't matter I would go for the 545i. In the case 530i/530d i did choose the 'd'. The engine perfectly suits a auto tranny wagon, better mpg and more power but the same price. Actually the diesel version is a little more expensive.

In the case 535d vs 545i there is another aspect. BMW doesn't want the 535d to be as fast as the much more expensive 545i. Then the 545i customer would get mad. (Like we've seen here...). It's not impossible that the 535d is faster than the factrory figures states. And 545 0-60 in 5.2s... dream on! Faster than the 60hp stronger E39 M5??

Re your "dream on" comment you might want to "read on" and take a look at Road and Track. As I said in an earlier post it is the fastest I have seen but the 545 has tested at 5.3 to 5.5 in the US car mags. Just passing on someone else's numbers. Not mine.

Edited to add that the E39 M5 actually posted sub 5 second 0-60's, again faster than the official figures.

I heard rumors of BMW introducing twin turbo gas engines. A twin turbo inline 6 patro engine with a price lower than then V8 models would be very nice.

You guys are forgetting one IMPORTANT thing...

When it comes to specs. 0-60 MP/H IS NOT EQUAL TO 0-100 KM/H which is the acceleration distance measured by BMW..

0-60 MP/H is only 0-96 KM/H - AND THAT'S WHAT MAKES THE DIFFERENCE between BMW's 5.8 to most US magazines 5.4-5.6 (- 4% ~)...

Not so fast, Sir, if you look on BMWUSA you would see that they quote a 0 to 60 time of 5.8 for the auto, as I said earlier.

I wanted to add.... that most of automotive websites with US specs. are WRONG because of stupidity/lack of knowledge of the ppl in charge of translation, taking the obvious (but not true..) that the manufacturer's 0-100KM/H is the US 0-60 MP/H..

Hang on a second, "only" d? You have 311 HP and 693Nm on that remapped puppy! Doesn't sound like too much of a hardship to me!!

It's past 7am and I'm taking of to try mine at the track today. They also have 1/8 mile drag in there. Let's see the times.

Maybe we can get more speed to this discussion.

See ya in 12 hrs.
