So my co-worker has a Audi A6 and has been having some electrical problems. He took it to the dealership who told him it was going to cost over 3,000 to fix....I told him to use this well known, fair mechanic instead and that I would go with him to make sure he doesnt get pushed around.

Anyway, I follow him in my 04 530i and pick him up. I get to the mechanic shop, park, and then walk up to my buddy and the mechanic.

This is what I heard when I approached them:

"Well, Audi's are made with pretty cheap parts, so you pay less in the beginning to purchase the vehicle but it catches up to you in the long run. Take BMW's for example, you pay a little more upfront but they are hands down the best made car on the road, better than lexus, mercedes, or Honda. They are built with quality parts that last, and IF something goes wrong, they are easy to diagnose and fix."

My friend HATES BMW's and he was steaming after he heard that.....so I egged him on with :

"Hey man, sorry about your Audi, but a reliable, better made vehicle is ready to take you home whenever you're ready"....

HAHA - BMW's FTW
Well I was an Audi owner previously for 4 years before my E60 and not one time did I have any recall or mechanical issue to deal with other then bringing the car in for routine maintenance. I happen to like the Audi brand for its styling and interior finishes, so sorry no negatives here. Although I love my E60 and have no regrets........I would consider buying another Audi someday. BMW is the constant performance benchmark that all other cars strive for, but at least Audi recognizes that and has been getting better.

Whats that old saying "To be the best you have to beat the best" just my .02
