The P7 has a gas cylinder, and this needs to be cleaned every 500 rounds. The scraper tool looks like this...

There is also a gas cylinder cleaning brush, but I have that.
That's what I thought. Thanks. I have a line on a P7M8 and I don't think it includes the scraper tool.

Hey all. Sorry for going a little overboard last night. My constitutional rights are a passionate topic with me... and mix that with a little liquor... and well... I got a little carried away. I definitely do not regret any of my arguments, but I am sorry for the insults. That being said... I felt Stilling and BetterMakeWay were very patronizing and assumed that as a gun owner I must have some desire to kill, a problem with aggression, or a lack of respect for human life. Those were all insults to me, so I followed with insults...stupid I know, but that is how I reacted.

DRANGED, really had no reason to respond to you that way and I apologize. I did read much of your previous thread and appreciate your discourse.

Stilling and BetterMakeWay, sorry for the insults, but please do not assume that because you are unable or unwilling to possess a gun that you are on an elevated moral plane than those of us that do. Do appreciate your contribution to the forum and this thread though
No hard feelings buddy.

Ed, pick up that P7M8 man...it really is a great little handgun!!!

That's it, I'm going to the gun shop this week...Daddy's craving a new Sig!!!

None here either. I've owned and carried firearms for more than 20 years, so I've heard all the arguments many times over. I used to get all riled up about it, but now it's just kind of funny to me.

I don't know if you've ever read anything by Massad Ayoob (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Massad_Ayoob), but one of his quotes is one of my favorites: "If you do not value life, you have no right to possess the power to destroy it."

I'm lucky to be close to Sig's headquarters, as well as the Sig Sauer Academy. I've taken two classes there (Sig Armorer and Handgun 101) and I'm taking the Handgun 102 class next weekend. Highly recommended if you can make the trip - great instructors.

Unfortunately they changed my grip during the last class, and now I can't hit a damn thing. Two steps backward and one step forward, I guess.

I have four Sigs now, and I like them, but I sure wish I had picked up a bunch back when they were using the carbon steel slides and didn't have rails. I picked up a W. German 226 a couple of weeks ago, but I haven't had the chance to tear it apart and clean & replace parts.

What are they using now for the SIG slides?

Milled stainless steel. There are pros and cons of each - some people have a preference, others don't.

Thanks Beaker. I am familiar with Massad Ayoob but I have not read him personally. Well... I have read articles in magazines from him but not any of his books or classes. I like the quote. Thanks for sharing
