Well that's the good part of not wanting to hear about guns and owing such things. That's why the other guy earlier said truly that he feels sorry for Americans.

I don't know if you've ever read anything by Massad Ayoob (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Massad_Ayoob), but one of his quotes is one of my favorites: "If you do not value life, you have no right to possess the power to destroy it."
I didn't hear about this guy and nor about that quote till now. However this intrigues me!

Please correct me if i got this wrong but at first i thought it sounded right but if i apply opposite negation to both parts of the sentence then it sounds like this:

"If you value life, you have the right to possess the power to destroy it"

Case in which, if my brain is not mixed up at this time, i don't follow the quote.

Well, yes and no. If I was going to rephrase it to remove the negatives from each side, I'd say "Only those who value life are able to make the decisions on when to destroy it".

Remember: not all that are living are good. The guy that breaks into my house and tries to kill me is alive...for a while, anyway. He doesn't value life, so he shouldn't have the ability (i.e. tools) to destroy it. I do value it, so I should have them to be able to defend myself.

yes but by that quote and this reasoning if that guy and all others like him don't have the ability (tools) to destroy it then you wouldn't have a reason as in need of tools to defend yourself from them.

If you can figure out a way to get the guns out of the hands of all the criminals, then I'll throw mine in the Mississippi River the next day. Although I enjoy sport shooting at the range, which thank God is the only time my weapon has been discharged, I'd give it up if I knew for a fact that the "bad guys" had no access.

I know, endless argument. Blah, blah, blah. Sorry Ron, I know this has nothing to do with your original post, so I'll award myself an .

To quote George Carlin: "You could probably beat a guy to death with the Sunday New York Times, couldn't you?"

Many if not all of the martial arts weapons were created by farmers who were forbidden to own weapons. Just because it doesn't go "Bang!" doesn't make the other person any less dead.

However, if his weapon goes "Bang!" then I want one that can go "BOOM".

Recent studies show that when someone breaks into your house, sitting calmly on the floor and hoping for the best doesn't work very well. And remember: when seconds count, the police are only minutes away!
