Hi All, I am melbournian too.

I am about to buy a 530 this week not sure how hard I need to bargain to the dealer here.

Anyone could give me a clue how mch should i bargain? May be 5% / 10% from RRP? Any recommended dealer?

Cheers,

I believe you can get BMW at a cheaper price away from Melbourne CBD.
My friend use to order his BMW way out in the country side or from NSW and delivered to him.

My wife purchased hers from Bib Stillwell 10 years ago, my sister from the BMW opposite crown casino.
Bargained a few options in, but not much discount.

On the road prolly around $125K with sport & pro pack, sun roof for a 530i LCI model. I don't think the 5er are selling that well in Aus. So they're quite willing to negotiate esp. show room stocks. For similar price, a lot of ppl went with the X5, or even the new 3er coupe.

BMW Australia says we are the number three export market for BMWs after the US and South Africa, so we tend to get looked after pretty well down here by BMW.
BMW didn't break out any specific numbers for Australia in the the latest full year report, but the UK numbers were quite a bit higher than the total sales reported for either Asia or Rest of World (which are the only places in the sales beakdown that could have inlcluded include Australia). The biggest individual markets for BMW are the US, Germany and then the UK.

Hi everyone,

I have been a member for a little while but haven't posted before.

There doesn't seem to be many Australians (if any) on this site. Just wondering if there are any out there lurking around.

I have a 2006 (2007 model year in US) BMW 540i M Sport (Which is a model you guys don't get, I think) which I love. Planned upgrade in a few years is an M5, but at AUD $246,000 it will be a few years before I can rake up the necessary. Australian BMW prices are about double what you pay in the US (Mine was AUD 154,700 approx) but hey, it only money ...........................

I have been interested in your discussions about the on board computer versions, my dealer in Sydney uploads the latest and greatest as part of their service function when your car is in for service, all you have to do is ask (although you do pay for it). Do your dealers do the same things in the US as the Australian dealers do (possibly on direction from BMW Aus) like having the fee coffee shop in the dealership with free newspapers and stuff with an open invitation to drop in any time for coffee if your driving past ??

BMW Australia says we are the number three export market for BMWs after the US and South Africa, so we tend to get looked after pretty well down here by BMW. having said that, my bluetooth module has died and I have to wait four weeks before the new one arrives from Germany. Apparently they don't fail all that often ..
Hi to all the team from DownUnder,

Im SydneySider, with a 530i, 2004, June build, Mysthic Blue, and own it since Fathers day (2007)- no more socks for ME, so its two weeks young for me, and two weeks of just too much fun.

The only dissappointing thing is the lack of the BLUETOOTH MODULE in the car (its blutooth prep'd- cables installed) and the BMW people (Canterbury and Sydney BMW) wanting $2K for this upgrade/retrofit, Yeh right - they wish. Just keep on using the Bluetooth headset and enjoy the ride

Investigating what other options I can find for the TCU, and if I can pick up a alternate product for Bluetooth.

Interested to hear what their experience is with their respective BMW dealerships in their state/region and how we can get best value out of their network.

Local BMW situations dont really mirror the US, and its good to read the e60-Forums but I think we are on our own for getting answers to car issues here down-under. Id like to hear of people alternate BMW workshops/service people who can deliver at more realistic pricing.

Hi Augustrain and congrats on getting your e60 recently!

My experience with the dealership here has been mostly positive. Even though the car is out of its 1 year rattle/squeeks warranty, they are still fixing any issues that come up for free. Cost wise though, I don't expect much of a discount from them seeing that they are the only BMW dealer here in Adelaide.

Re your BT, I agree that spending $2k is way too much. I'd stick with the after market BT car kits or head sets. Get the i-pod setup though if you use an i-pod

In Adelaide I'm seeing many more BMW's on the road now than ever before. I suspect with the release of the new C-class and the sneak peaks of the E and CLK, there'll be more BMW's here sold than Mercs.
