I can appreciate that. I guess I find it odd that so many negative conclusions are being drawn about a product that no one has all the details about. Not you personally but many on this site. When the iPod your BMW thing came out everyone was complaining that there was no steering wheel control, no information displayed ect. Now that those things are being implimented people are complaining about the way it's implimented. I guess i don't see why people have to spout off so much venom without all the facts.

Hey Aloha, exclude me from that crowd, I am a happy customer with the demo I have seen.
Many years ago I bought one of the first MP3 aftermarket fitting into a DIN slot. I was so happy at the time, even without all the integration (all buttons on the machine)
but even now that the cd plays mp3, I am already very pleased - ipod integration is just the cherry on top of the E60-cake

Exactly:
I'm looking forward to the positive aspects of the mod. There will always be drawbacks with everything but it's nice to see the effort being made.

I'm debating whether I should add CD changer to my car or not. I'm afraid that the iPod adapter will take away CD changer. It'd be nice to have both CD changer and iPod adapter at the same time.
No MP3/AAC player can replace CD quality, and I have some compiled disk with my most favorite songs. It sounds fantastic on CD, but crappy on iPod although I encoded them as Apple Lossless.

All you chaps in the USA are lucky in some respects because you will have access to the BMW kit for the iPod (I spoke to two dealers in the UK last week who had not heard about the new interface), however it is not necessarily the best option around. You should have a look at the Dension Gateway 500 that is coming out at the end of June. Lots of additional ports as well as keeping the CD Changer. The new Dension system can be seen here...

We'll see. I think Dension's will be better than BMW's.
