See the video. Watch it work with the idrive. Click on the "watch the New York International Auto Show Vodcast link.

Now available for most BMW models. The interface integrates the Apple iPod digitally into the BMW audio system and allows drivers to control and listen to iPod music via the radio and steering wheel controls.

But why does it pretend to be a CD?

Select CD1 to browse your iPod, select CD4 to browse by genre? Not exactly intuitive is it!?

So your saying it's not good enough for you and you would not buy it? Or would you rather
have the Aux input or the first generation iPod your BMW? Personally I think it's great and
i'm gonna get it installed right away. Actually i believe it's very intuitive. But I'm one of those people
who has no trouble with iDrive either. Talk about not intuitive.

What I'm saying is that's a bit of a 'hack-job'. If you're selecting a track via 'genre' then I'd like to see 'genre' rather than 'CD4'? It's ok, obviously better than any previous attachment but not exactly a precision piece of engineering and design...

totally agree with you... AND I am pretty sure that my cd changer will go to waste, because I cannot see a way how i could control that as soon as the ipod interface is installed.
so maybe high def radio, but, because of the inferiour compressed audio format of the likes of the ipod, (meaning inferiour to cd sound) definitly no high def recorded sound
