That's why I won't buy ANY music from iTunes. Well.... the DRM & the fact that they don't sell quality encoded files. There are plenty of other choices out there which won't hamstring you like Apple does. I think it's absolutely horrible for a company to charge you for the music, but to then prevent that music from being played back on anything but their own devices. What if my iPod takes a crap, and I decide to purchase something else? If you think Microsoft had shady business practices.... Apple's DRM puts them to shame.

this is not true you can play any song on your ipod thru the ipod I drive interface. I have an 80gig ipod video and play all the songs i bought off Itunes, not sure why you all can't? My car is an 04 530i and no issues playing itunes bought music...hope this helps

Yes. And also what if your iPod dies, and you decide that you no longer want an Apple product? With Apple's DRM, you are stuck using their hardware. They are actually being sued for this right now. I hope they succeed, too. Apple's DRM policy is completely unfair, and is clearly anti-competition.
