No such thing as back pressure. Some factory units use this to keep the velocity up in the low end then opening up during higher rpms and load. This is used to keep the sound down and is not necessary if you have an exhaust designed specifically for performance and not to keep the sound levels down. There is a way we get around that with our systems but I cant post how/why or else we wouldnt be the only company doing it. hehe

I would say if the person you are dating or wife has a problem after the cones, this might be a good idea. lol

There is, I think, an elegant and simple way to circumvent this issue, by placing a tip that moves up and down, actually - it would be less restrictive and still allow the air to exit efficiently, while taking some edge of the sound - what do you think?

I have a silencer for my turbo car that I have, which has a 3" turbo back mandrel exhaust with no cat. The silencer makes a huge difference, can't even hear the exhaust at all inside the car.....good for long trips if nothing else.

Other option.......... if you want to be able to control exhaust tone from a flip of a switch is to install some "exhaust cutouts"....might sound kinda interesting on a 545 or 550.
