I've read the entire thread but still not 100% sure on the answer to this -- is a combox required for Nuance voice control w/ CIC retrofit?

And one more question - does anyone know the part number for the trim piece that holds the CIC USB port in the glove box on E60?

I didn't think there was one. The solution was the buy a blanking plate trim for the flashlight socket 51168161589 and cut a hole in that for the USB port. Or you could do what BMW themselves did, just drill a hole in the roof of the glovebox and install the USB port there. I didn't bother with a neat solution for the CIC USB because I have yet to use it even once!

Ah! I have that piece, that shouldn't be too difficult.

On another note -- I just noticed that the radio buttons don't light up since the CIC retrofit, ie. The volume knob, 1,2,3,4,5,6, AM/FM, MODE and < and > are not lit orange at night anymore. Does anyone know what could be wrong? Is it that the 12V ILLUMINATION pin wire is disconnected somehow probably?

Is there a way to force the car to turn on the night interior lighting for testing? Otherwise I'm not sure how to test/resolve this if I need to do it in daylight. :-/

Thanks, I did some research online and ended up doing the same - wiring pin 14 on CIC to the grey/red wire on the hazard/door locks button.

Still wondering why some of us had to do this and other didn't. Did you guys upgrade from Non-Nav to CIC or something?
